Health requirements
Just like humans, dogs can suffer from diseases. Because of the existence of some hereditary diseases in the parent breeds (breeds from which the AES Australian Labradoodle are originated) ALFA-Europe has made some tests mandatory.
All the tests must be positive before a breeding dog can be registered.
The prcd-PRA test (mandatory)
Besides DNA-profiling and parental control for every puppy in a litter, at this moment, the prcd-PRA test compulsory for breeding dogs.
The breeder has to order this DNA-test always via ALFA-Europe. The Laboratory will always send the test results to ALFA-Europe.
Hips and elbows examination (mandatory)
Hip dysplasia can be hereditary but can also be caused by external factors that influence the normal developmental of the hip joint(s) negatively.
When a breeding dog is at least one year old, the dog has to be examined. X-rays of the dog are made and will be examined by a panel of experts or examined by an experienced veterinarian.
Scientists found out that there is also a strong correlation between the developments of the hips and the diet of the dog. Therefore, puppy buyers must follow the instructions of the breeder concerning nutrition.
Elbow dysplasia can be hereditary but can also be caused by external causes.
Going up and down the stairs at a very young age, jumping out of the car or from the sofa, playing with larger dogs, too much exercise at a very young age, sliding over slippery floors because there is no carpet, all these situations can cause damage to your puppy’s elbows or hip joints. Follow the instructions of your breeder.
General Health Certificate (mandatory)
Every breeding dog must submit every 1-1.5 year a new health certificate. This health certificate must be signed and stamped by the veterinarian who is looking after the breeding dogs of the breeder on a regular basis.
